Tarangire National Park boasts the highest concentration of elephants in North Tanzania, with herds often numbering up to 300 animals. The Tarangire River provides a year-round water source, attracting numerous animals from the surrounding areas during the dry season (July to October). If you visit the park during this time, you will witness a remarkable spectacle as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, and various antelope and gazelle species gather at the river to drink. With some luck, you may even spot a python! The dry season is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with over 550 different species, including the Masai Ostrich, the largest bird in the world. After a lunch break at a suitable picnic spot, the afternoon will be dedicated to further wildlife observation. Before sunset, we will transport you back to your hotel in Arusha.

                    Kilimanjaro National Park Day Trip

                    ITINERARY

Early in the morning we will collect you from your hotel for an exciting day in Tanzania’s wilderness. As we make our way to West Kilimanjaro, we will pass through a forest reserve where you may spot Colobus Monkeys in the canopy. Your hike will begin at 3,500m above sea level on the rugged terrain of Shira Plateau. Take a moment to appreciate the sights, smells, and colors of Tanzania’s stunning wilderness as you lace up your shoes. Accompanied by a ranger, you will traverse different trails and enjoy magnificent views of Kibo, and Kilimanjaro’s northern glaciers, if the weather permits. The vast plains of Amboseli National Park in Kenya and the deep gorge of the Simba River provide a striking contrast to the world’s highest free-standing mountain. When you reach the northern rim of Shira Crater, take a moment to stop at various observation points and admire the volcanic cones dotting the landscape below. Hike at your own pace and enjoy a picnic lunch under the open sky along the way. This moderate hike is suitable for all, but at 3,500m, the air is thinner, so take your time and savor the untouched landscapes and the presence of the mighty Kilimanjaro. After a 4-hour hike we will return you to your hotel.
